Five Months Old!

Coleton is now 5 months old! We just cant believe how fast he is growing and what a little personality he is developing! The other day we found these glasses and thought it would be funny to see how Coleton looked in them... and we were shocked to find that Coleton thought they were so funny you can see him grinning under the nose and we thought it was pretty cute too!He has now learned how to sit up which is so nice in relief society, i just sit him on the floor and he can play with his toys by himself. He loves playing with his dad, but....
Sometimes dad just cant play, hes a busy working man!But when dad gets new props for his classes, Coleton is the first to try then out! Coleton is getting bigger when we got his shots done a few days ago he weighed in at a little over 15lbs but still not as big as the Serta Sheep! He is so eager to eat food that when we eat dinner he will just stare at us with the sadest little face! I will try to feed him cereal but some how he knows that its not the same as what we are eating, poor little guy! Here is him watching Brandon eat lunch he was so jealous! This is his new bath tub chair, some how we got really luck! With us tight on finances i decided to go check the cedar city DI for a chair for the bath tub because when i would put him in his baby bath he would do little cruches to sit up the whole time i had him in there. Our DI had practically no baby items i was shocked to see exactly what i needed for way cheap! I still cant believe that i found exactly what i was looking for, and he loves it!
Here is a shocked face when all of a sudden he found himself no longer sitting up, tipping over is quite the ordeal! With Brandons sister, Candice on bed rest Grandma Comstock has spend a lot of time in California helping her family out. Grandpa has been left home all by himself so we've loved having him over for dinner every couple days so he gets a good meal. Coleton has had a chance to see him more often, its been really fun for all of us!
Brandon thinks it is so cute when Coleton holds his hands like this, he does it all the time! This is something that just makes me laugh. When we found out that we were having a little boy Brandon told me that he didnt want any clothes that would mistake him as a little girl no orange, yellow, purples, and anything frilly. I did my best to get more manly cloths but what i forgot was toys! For easter Brandon got me a duck and Coleton found it and absolutely Loves it but what i think is so funny is that it has a cute little pink bow tied around its neck, Brandon seems ok with it but who would have thought Coleton would love it so much!
Just chilling on the couch watching A Baby Story with mom!
Grandma Comstock was dieing to get pictures taken of Coleton so a few days before he turned five months we went in to Kiddie Kandids for some photos. We ended up waiting for over and hour and though he was so exausted we got some good shots, you can find them at http://www.kiddiekandids.com/ go to the right corner of the screen and click on my studio your online prtrait store and with the sitting code of 27732b8 with the sitting number 22068310 you can see the pictures. I didnt know that you only can choose six pictures so those are the six but there were a lot of cute ones we had to delete!

Our staycation!

Over labor day weekend, Brandon and I decided that we would go down to Kaysville and spend some time with my parents (and sister) since Brandon missed out on the Cheney reunion. We were going to head down friday morning after his class. We were excited to swim, see family, have some ice cream, and maybe go to see the Tabernacle Choir on Sunday morning. Well Thursday night as i was getting Coleton ready for bed i had this feeling like something was going to go wrong on the car ride. I knew in the back of my head that it was because Coleton hated being in the car and he was probably going to cry most of the way but i went and asked Brandon how he felt about the drive? He said he felt fine. Brandon told me that if i felt like we shouldnt go then we wouldnt! I thought back to my family reunion, my parents had given a lesson during Family Home Evening about how in the future things might happen. Spouses may die, children might get sick, things will happen but we have to be spiritually prepared for these time as a family and individually. I knew Brandon wanted so bad to go down and i was so excited for a little vacation, so we decided that we would get ready and if i decided we should not go Friday morning we wouldnt. The next morning i figured that if my mom called me i would tell her we couldnt come (kind of knowing that she was not going to since i had already called her the day before) but to my surprise she called. She said she heard the phone ring but didnt get to it in time and thought that it was me. Hearing that I said to her that we were not going to be coming anymore because i just didnt feel right about it. She understood and when Brandon came home i told him my decision.
Since we were going to be staying home we planned some activities for our long weekend. On Friday night we grabed our camping tent (which we had just bought for our new 72 hour kit which we made for family home evening the Monday before),got some steaks and decided to go camping and have a little BBQ! Camping is just not the same when you have a 4 1/2 month old baby so instead of going to a camping sight we went to Brandons parents backyard! We used their grill and made shiscobobs. Though it was our first time making them, they were amazing! We then went to a Cedar High football game since Brandon teaches some of the players. After the game, we got some ice cream from sonic and headed to our "camp"! We put Coleton inside the house and put the monitor on hims so i could here him and we went to bed! It was a blast we were shocked to find the grass ,that night, was so comfortable (unlike normal camping) and the weather was perfect. i slept so good but Coleton woke about every hour but nun the less it was great!
Saturday morning we got up ate homemade zuccini bread that i had brought and then headed home to shower! When we got home we found that my parents called. They wanted to know if we wanted to buy their truck from them that they were going to try selling, so excited (because we only have one car right now and we live 12 miles from anything) we said that we would buy it from them! They drove down on Sunday morning to drop it off to us and then they were going to stay over night and spend some time with us! We were so excited to have them come down it was going to be the first time they saw our house, Brandons office, and his room. Sunday after church we came home to our parents! but there was no truck?? Well come to find out the transmittion went out about half way to cedar city! Here is the clincher, my dad told us that he heard a little noice as he was driving along, knowing that something sounded wrong he pulled over slowed down to about 20 miles and at that point the car seized up and the truck started to swerve pretty bad! I thought that was pretty scary but then he said this, if you would have come down this weekend we would have had Brandon drive it back. If he would not have slowed down when he heard the little noice (and since Brandon doesnt know a huge amount about cars he would not have) the car would have probably rolled a few times!! I thought back to that feeling i had and was so greatful for it! I was so frustrated that we could not go to my parent but i cant imagine the feelings i would have has as i would have watched the truck, Brandon would have been driving, roll while i thought to myself i had that feeling to stay why didnt i listen! What a lesson this taught me, i know that our Heavenly Father is watching over us and protecting us daily and i know that if we listen and follow the promptings from the Holy Ghost we will be protected and if something does happen i am grateful to know that since Brandon and i were sealed together in the temple that we can be an eternal family which is such a comfort.
But back to the weekend, we had so much fun with them during their stay. We had dinner, showed them around the house, and the seminary building. They had to head back to Sunday night but we are so excited that they came down and can not wait for the next time they can come!
Monday was our last day over our staycation so we decided to go play mini golf, since we are still getting over being poor college students we didnt want to pay to go to a real course but the park close to our house has a mini golf course that is open to anyone, so we went and played! It was great there are about 6 holes so we played each a few times and sadly Brandon won but only by a few! Coleton was napping so he stayed in the car seat for most of it but when he did wake up he was pretty entertained by it all!Since we had a chance to do a little camping of course you need to do a little fishing! In our new house we have a juccuci tub and Brandon has some fishing fish(the ones that have magnets on their mouths) so when Coleton went to bed we filled the tub up, put the fish in, and put the jets on and away those fish swam!

Our :abor day weekend went great! I love being in a relationship were we dont have to spend alot of money to have fun together. It was just fun to spend time with our little family!

Comstock Reunion

This year we headed down to McCall Idaho again for a little family reunion! With Candice pregnant she was put on bedrest the week before the trip so we had Grandma, Grandpa, Perry, Dawn, mom, dad, and our little family. Though we missed the Heaton family we still had a blast! We were able to celebrate Grandma and Grandpas 60th anniversary. Mom did a great job planning a little party with ornaments representing all the different moments in their life. We also had a great time going to church in a barn since the church was under construction. We had horses in the next stall and cats chasing mice during sacrament meeting!! it was great!

Cheney Family Reunion

The Cheney Reunion was August 17-22 and thanks to everyone (mainly my amazing parents) it went amazingly well. I was so excited that i got the chance to go and see all of my siblings and to see all of the grandkids which now total to 12. Coleton had four other cousins that he was dieing to see since all of my married siblings were pregnant at the same time. (Benjamin 5 months, Alexis 5 1/2 months, Coleton 4 1/2 months, Ashley 3 months, and Masen 3 months) All five of them were born within 2 1/2 months of each other. Though the house was a little crazy at times it was a blast! Brandon was unabe to come with us because school had started the week before so Coleton and i flew down on Sunday night. (top left: Benjamin, Coleton, Masen bottom left: Alexis, Ashley) We had different activites through out the day that Grandma Cheney organized and then a few activites from the other families. Some of the little activites that we had to do through out the day was things like kickball at the park, grandkid olypics, Cupcake decorating, making donuts, wii competitions, and crafts that grandma planned. (Left Kari and Alexis, Cristeen and Benjamin, Coleton and me, Marie and Ashley, Caetie and Masen)Then Grandma and Grandpa planned the big activities like Family Home Evening, the annual pinewood derby, hawaiian luau, and the biggest thing was the new pool and deck that was built in the back that constantly had people swimming in it. They spent weeks (of long hours) getting it up and running and putting in grass and a amazing deck. Other then the great activities that were planned for everyday there was the food. The family is famous of having eaten way to much to eat and this reunion was no different. Not only did we have our three meals a day, when the kids went to bed we had the adult activites (which was getting mostly swimming with out all of the children) and also had food planned at nights. Weeks before everyone sent in a recipe of desserts and dips and at night we sat around and ate cakes, brownies, cheese cakes, ice cream cakes, multiple bags of chips, and 12 different varieties of dips. Not only did we have that but we got to treat ourselves to the normal summer treats that are avaliable only at my parents house like the industrial cotton candy machine, pop corn machine, and ice cream machine (which makes two gallons in every batch and i am pretty sure i ate most of it!!) By the end of the week everyone was twenty pounds heavier but loved every minute of it!I could not forget to have a picture of Brandons pinewood derby! Though this year he was unable to make it he sent his car with my to race his is the cork screw silver one also known as "The dremel made me do it" He worked long and hard on this car and though it got third to last in the race we are still proud of what he did!! Good Job, Hunny!!

Rice Cereal!!

I could not wait, i know that sounds rediculous but..
I was planning on not starting him on rice cereal until i got back from my family reunion next week but he always seems like he wants more so on Tuesday the 12th decided that we should give it a try! His first few spoonfuls!Well he loved it! He wanted so bad to help load it in but he would push the little spoon to far into his mouth! He loved it so much that when i paused for him to swallow he started to fuss, but best of all was when we ran out of made rice cereal, he was a little upset i didnt have more!

Here is a video i took of Coleton about three weeks ago. I was trying to convince him that he should roll over for me so that i really could prove that he can roll but he didnt but he did try to explain to me why he didnt want to... here it is! (I know that it is sideways but i didnt know you could not flip it but you can still hear him!!)

Four Months Old!

Today Coleton turns four months! I am so excited because our doctor said that i can start him on rice cereal. With my family reunion going on next week i think i wont start him til after but i am still really excited. He is about 13lbs but still pretty small and is still fitting in to 3 month clothes. Since i have not gotten a chance to get nice pictures of him taken i took some snap shots of him at home. He is getting really good at holding up his head! i had alot of fun today spiking his hair after i gave him a bath. Normally it falls with in a few minutes but this time it stayed up all day?
Today i just had to laugh, when i went to put him down for a nap, i wrapped him up like always so that his hands would not wake him and normally he does not mind (i think he enjoys it). Well this time he threw a small tantrum because he did not want to take a nap. While he was screaming in his crib i said "Coleton, i will make you a deal, i will unwrap you but you have to take a nap still because its nap time" knowing that it was not going to make a difference to him i unwrapped him. Well instantly he stopped crying, closed his eyes, turned his head, and put his little arm over his face. Shocked I walked out of the room thinking to myself that he would start crying again but i could not believe it i never heard from him until i went to get him up! If only this would work out everyday! He is really good at attemping to sit but he fell over and i am pretty sure he thought i pushed him (but i promise you i didnt), he was a little frustrated!
This was after his bath, that hand is always in there i wish i could get him off that habit!
This is so typical! I will be doing something and not watching him and all of a sudden i will hear him gagging and when i turn around this is what i see, you would think we would learn! Wow, i know i look gross but he was laughing so hard, he just started to really giggle!
He LOVES to stand sitting is just not an option. Brandon let him hold on to a bin that we had unpacked and he thought that was pretty cool!
So i rolled him over on to his stomack to take a picture of the back of his onsie and he started rocking like crazy, i could not get him to hold still! If only he would roll over for people, no one believe that he has rolled over! I tried to make it look like his shirt is big enough to cover him but really it is like a belly shirt, i should stop making him wear it but that has not happened yet!

Here is the happy little man in his favorite toy, the bouncer. Grandma Cheney let him use this while we moved and he loves it!
Brandon has been really busy with getting his seminary room ready since school starts this weeks so when he is home i make sure they spend time together! I just love how this one turned out, i dont know how i got it??

Happy Birthday Brandon!

Brandon is now 24 years old!! I tried my hardest this year to give him a fun filled birthday since we actually could have people over and have a little party so Coleton and I did all we could while Brandon was at work. He left for meetings at 5am so once Coleton got up for the day we got started! We decorated a little onesie That said "Happy Birthday" on the front and "I love u" on the back then we sent Brandon a picture through a text for him. Then when Coleton was napping i got streamers and decorated the kitchen and made little homemade signs like the Cheney family would do for everyones birthday, i actually had alot of fun doing it. A few days before Brandons birthday i asked him what kind of cake he wanted and he said that he wanted me to decorate a cake for him with the cake decorating kit he got me for Christmas (which i had not really used much yet) and so i was so excited to do that and got going on making a amazing cake! It took so much time but i had so much fun doing it!

Then once he got home from work about 4pm we took Coleton over to Brandons parents house and we went out to dinner at Chilies. Since we dont eat out very often it is a big treat for us! Then we went home for a little birthday party. Brandons parents and grandparents were able to come join us in the celebration and we had alot of fun! He got some things for teaching seminary (colored chalk and a decible reader) and the most adorable card form his grandparents. Happy Birthday, Brandon!

Can you really be mad?

Since we moved to Cedar City, Coleton has definately been more quiet than he use to be. He use to wake up in the mornings and talk anywhere from a half an hour to fourty five minutes to himself as he layed in bed but once we moved that stopped, until last night. Coleton goes to bed around eight o'clock and he will wake up to eat around four in the morning. Well a little earlier then normal he woke up to eat about three, when i was feeding him he was very chatty which he doesnt due at night. After he ate and i layed him in bed i wondered back to my room to go back to sleep hopefully til morning but Coleton did not have that same plans for me. He started to talk to himself in that dark room, and continued to talk for an hour and fourty five minutes! Finally, though it was cute to listen to, i went back into his room and feed him until he fell asleep. As i sat there burping him i had to think to myself "can i really be upset with the little guy?" he was so happy just talking to himself even though with the baby monitor it was keeping me awake. i really had been missing hearing him chat but i also was so tired but in the end i am just glad that he is getting back to normal, even if it does mean i dont sleep!
