Cheney Family!

Like always, our visit at my parents went great! We were planning on going to Salt Lake for the interview on the 18th so when they changed their plans we decided to still head upto kaysville that weekend! We went up on March 20th and Coleton and i stayed til the 29th, because Brandon had to come home and teach his classes. While we were there my mom and I went to all my favorite stores DI, Savers, Sams club, better walmart, and many more. I love to find good deals and my mom always finding the best ones so she took me around and boy did we find some good stuff! We found some great toys for coleton that look brand new a singing puppy that you pull behind you, and john deer bike/truck, some cute cloths, and lots more good stuff! It was really fun to just relax and spend sometime together. We also got to try some new recipes. Since she loves to read cook books she finds some really meals and she finds creative dinner and i learn a ton while i am there!
Brandon was able to come up on the weekends and we were able to go with my mom and dad and do some window shopping which we love to do, since we dont have many stores to go to here is Cedar. Coleton loved being up at my parents, they always seem to have good snacks that he never gets when he is at home so he loved life! He did great on the drive there and back and slept great while we were there which was amazing some nights! All together our trip was great, its fun to have a little get aways and spend time with family. We are so excited for this years Cheney reunion. There is alot of fun stuff planned and Coleton is going to have a blast with his cousins and of course grandma and grandpa!

Our Interview with Elder Mask!!

The day we have been waiting for finally came! Brandon and I, since we started with CES, have been waiting for the moment that we might get a chance to have an interview with a general authority! We got a phone call from the CES secretary and we were informed that we would be meeting with Elder Clate Mask of the seventy. The plan was to go up to salt lake city and interview with him on Wednesday the 18th we were going to meet with him in the church office building but with the hiring freeze they decided to do a video conference from the university here in Cedar City which is SUU.
Our interview was in a conference room at SUU at nine thirty. I had heard that the interview would last for about an hour and that they would be mostly interviewing the wife, which made me a little nervous but man were we shocked when we got in. At nine fifteen they turned on the cameras so we started the interview early. He introduced himself and checked Brandon and I's name and then said so you have a child and we said "yes, coleton". He then asked where we were from and said that there was some questions that the first presidency wanted him to ask then interviewed Brandon like it was a temple reccommend interview. After he talked with Brandon said that he had worked with CES and it was a great life for him and his family. Not sure what he was going to ask he said that we did a great job, that we got an A and that he would pass it on to those who needed it and said good bye we both did a wave through the camera and left the whole interview lasted about 10 minutes and we were out of there before we were suppose to start! We walked out of the conference room a little shocked how short it was and that it was nothing like what we expected. Our experience was not like other CES employees but we figure he said we got an A so what more could we want! The plan is that the church will let us know if we are hired on April 17th so we will see!?!

Big Boy

With Coleton getting so big and is having a harder time fitting into anything, so we decided to move him up to the next size clothes which is 12 months.
As I sorted through the new clothes I noticed that there were hardly any one peice outfits and pactically no onesie type shirts. At the time, i didnt think much of it but as he has stated to wear these new clothes, they make him look different.
As i look at him in his new clothes, i realize he isnt a little baby anymore. He's a growing toddler,
a little man!
He is learning so fast and i cant stop thinking about those two country songs "Your going to miss this" and "It wont be like this for long" It is really starting to kick in for me that is really is not going to be little for much longer an man am i going to miss it!
Here is a little video clip of his latest trick....

Coletons 11 months!!

Time is still flying by....
He has such a little personality, he loves to explore and make his own discoveriesand everyday, i look forward to see what he will do!He is scooting everywhere and breaks into rooms, drawers, cupboards, and learning that toilet water is just as fun as a bath! These past two weeks we have made some big milestones!! After a few fussy days, we are proud to finally have one little tooth!!!
With only one tooth it allows him to eat more things like on Saturday morning he sat and watched TV while he was eating a waffle!
And though he can stand for multiple minutes, he is starting to walk!!!
I know i know that is not the best recording of him walking but we realized that its kind of hard to record when there is only two of you!! He is just getting so big and i am starting to realize hes not a little baby anymore!

If only he was a girl!!

I do love having a little boy! He is getting to the age where he will play with his cars and make the noices like them, likes to play outside, and enjoys wrestling with his dad but these are the times i wish he were a little girl.... I have now cut Coletons hair four times!! By the time his hair reaches this length i think to myself that if i had a little girl i could but her hair a pony tail, pig tails, or maybe even some little curls.. but since hes little man we keep his hair short and clean cut! Hopefully the next one will be a little girl that i can take advantage of her hair growing long!!

Cute Moments!

As i read other peoples blogs on the cute things that their kids say i look forward to the day when i will be able to write about what Coleton says but until then i will just have to settle with how cute he looks...The other day we went to get him up from his nap and we found him like this. He normally lays on his back he was trying to pull up the sheet on his crib but he had fallen asleep while doing it!It was one of those moments that Brandon and i just stood there and watched him sleep, it was precious. Then you get those moments that are not so precious like this one.... I guess you just take what you get!! Non the less we love this little guy!

Warm day at the park!

Finally it happened! The snow has all melted and we could take Coleton to the park two houses down from our house! Since he is starting to walk we thought it would be a good chance to get him some practice with shoes so on they went and we walked to the park to play.We went down the slides climbed up some stairs, But after a few minutes he was finished wearing his shoes and wanted them off!
He was a little angry that when i took off his shoes like he wanted i would not let him walk in his while socks so to cheer him up we made a phone call and let him talk for a little while (he loves to talk on the phone! All in all it was a fun day in the park. We hope soon to be able to go back and let Coleton run around but for now this was good enough for him!

Family in town!

Thought we would just say how lucky we are to have family close! This past presidents day weekend we had a chance to be part of our new neices blessing. Candices family came from California to have Kate Marie Heaton blessed and were able to spend time with them and the Heaton family. While we were able to be with Candice and her family we realized that this might not be happening as often as we would like pretty soon. There little family is heading to New Orleans for pediatric dentistry schooling and our little family may be moving some where with in the next few months so who knows how often we will be able to get together but it is a ton of fun spending time with them anyway. When things start to change like that it is such a comfort to know that families are together forever!

Home interview!

We had another event on our journey to becoming a seminary teacher. On Labor day had a chance to have Brother Ringer (He works with the church interviewing prospective teachers at there homes) he came at 10am for the interview. I spent the three days prior to cleaning and scrubing every room in my house to make sure that if for some reason he walked throught it would be spotless (he didnt but you can never be sure!) We sent Coleton to the brandons parents, since they didnt want childrent to be there and he came and talked with us of about an hour and fifteen minutes. It was so intense and i was so nervous! He has papers that had list of questions and he went through and asked us questions and as we answered them he would right down what we had told him. I was thinking that he would ask us things like "where did you guys meet?" "what are some of your hobbies" "what do you like to do as a family?" I was quessing more fun questions but they were more serious like "what is your greatest accomplishment" "why is this your 2nd option for a job?" " why would you choose this if you could make more money with your family business?" I quess i was not expecting that! Well who knows how it really went it didnt go horrible but nothing fantastic but our next step is an interview with a general attority so we are hoping to get a phone call with a date soon but we can only hope!

Valentines Vacation to Egypt!!!

We had such a great Valentines day weekend!! It started off with a chance to have a date on friday night. Brandons parents watched Coleton and we went to Wingers for dinner and then went over to our stakes Disco dance. We were a little unsure about the dance because we didnt wear disco ourfits but we decided to go anyway and we were shocked when we got there! There were quite a few people there ranging from ages 18 to around 80 and alot of them were wearing there cloths that they really did wear back when it was crazy and everyone was dancing like they did in saturday night fever, it was priceless!!

Then on saturday is when Brandon really got in to Valentines day! When Brandon and i were married we were in the middle of a semester at school so we were unable to go on a honey moon. I have always regreted that and am constantly telling Brandon that i want to got to a theme room hotel for a weekend. But since we really dont have the finances to go on a little vacation and we cant really leave Coleton for more then a few hours we are uable to go. So Brandon thought since we couldnt go to a themed room he would make one in our bedroom! He spent hours on getting it prepared. He got real egypian art from another teacher and made some artwork and head board for the special even here is a video of what it looked like....

I was so amazed at how good it looked he spent alot of time and effort for me and i loved it. I gave him a gift card for a few props for class and had a special dinner of appetizers for us to eat on our "vacation". I love that Brandon i creative enough to make things fun and exciting even when we cant go on a real weekend vacation!
