Easter Weekend!

This year Easter and General Conference landed on the same weekend. Brandon didnt have school on Friday or Monday so we headed to Kaysville to spend the weekend with family. Brandon is preparing to go back to school for his masters degree so while we were in salt lake he decide to take the GRE so he could apply for the program he is wanting! We headed up on Thursday night after he was finished teaching. We borrowed a DVD player for Coleton to watch movies on the ride up and it worked great. Both boys did great and we made it there about eight and got settled in before the whole gang got there!
We had all of my siblings there except Caetie and here family who were to far away to travel. We had four of the five toddlers that were all the same age (Alexis, Coleton, Benjamin, and Ashley missing is Masen) who loved watching movies together.
We also had the three boys who are very close in age also (Hayden 7 weeks, Logan 5 1/2 months, Ethan 10 weeks) Once the whole gang got there we had quite the weekend. It was pretty busy with egg decorating and making pies while the boys were at the priesthood session.an easter egg hunt outside with plastic eggs that coleton didnt really understand. But Coleton did love being with cousins! He had so much fun running around and having them carry him around.
And of course the Easter bunny came and left toys and treats for the kids. Coleton and Hayden shared a basket because Hayden is so young. They got crayons, a coloring book, kite, a car, candy, playdough, bubbles, a pinwheel, and a pez that looks like percy which he loved. We watched conference with everyone which was wonderful and we had the chance to go to Brandons dads mission reunion celebrating 40 years of his mission (indonesia) being opened. We had such a great weekend and were so happy to be able to spend it with family over Easter weekend!

What have the Comstocks been up too??

With everything going on after Hayden was born we are starting to get in to a normal routine which i thrive off of. With a schedule i have a easier time enjoying the craziness. So here is what we have been up to... Last saturday i decided we needed a little family picture with the addition so here is what we got, sorry it is off center there was no one to take it for us so we had to prop it up on toys:)
Coleton has been doing great with Hayden and though he is not really jealous of him, he does get tired of waiting for me to help him so he has gotten pretty good at finding his own snacks like frozen gogerts, popsicles, and yes frozen chicken nuggets (no need to worry they are fully cooked)! It takes all his body wait to open the fridge so it is pretty entertaining to watch him get it open!
Coleton is still completely crazy about trains. The other night he found this christmas outfit that had a train on it and insisted that he wear it so over his pajamas it went and he was so excited to have it on!
Right now, Coleton love to color in coloring books and if there are stickers in the book even better. Elmo is still a favorite and he is loving that he knows most of the monsters and characters on sesame street.
With the weather being so nice in Hurricane, we have been taking advantage of the six parks with in a mile of our house and walking to play on the playground sets. Coleton loves the swings and the slides, but still cries like we are kidnapping him when we head home. Hayden just enjoys the ride!
With Hayden getting older we are starting to introduce toys to see if he likes them but for the time being Hayden is not as interested but boy does Coleton like them!

Our little boy is definately a boy! He has hit the stage where he always seems to be dirty but boy does he hate being sticky. We will be in the middle of a meal and he will stop and panic because his hands are stick and insist that they be washed. We love that he wants to be clean but cant he wait til after hes done eating??

With me being a little busy with Hayden, Coleton and Brandon have gotten really close which as been fun to see. The wrestle together, put car tracks together, eat oreos together, and calls for daddy when he gets scared at night all together its been great to watch and here is Brandon playing with him the other day!

I have found similar pictures and want to know what everyone thinks... Do you think they look identical??? Coleton is on the left, Hayden is on the right.. let us know!!!

And the verdict is....

Family Update!

Well, we are all alone! That may be a little more dramatic than it really is. Both parents have now come and gone and they were so much help. The cooked, cleaned, organized, and i was so sad to see them leave! We are now in a daily schedule and things are going great! The week after my mom left, i started having a hard time nursing. It was getting more and more painful but everyone told me that it was normal. After about a week and a half of being in tears while nursing i went to the doctor to find i had an infection. Luckly i got on meds and life is so much better and i am feeling great! Hayden is a great sleeper, so good that i have to wake him up at nights to feed him because he sleep to long. At his two week appointment he went down from 8lb 2oz to 7lb 14oz (down after 5 days) so they told me i had to be really scheduled and make sure to wake him to feed him every 2.5 hours or i would be in trouble so i did and after four day i took him back and he was up to 8lb 5oz!! oops!
Coleton is doing great with the adjustment! He really loves him and doesnt care that i am holding him, feeding him, or putting him to sleep. Coleton is though a very loud 23 month old so that has been a struggle for me to keep him at a normal noise level but i can handle that!
All together things are going great! I am feeling good, Hayden is happy and sleeping great, Coleton loves hayden, and Brandon could not be happier to have two boys!!

Going Home!

After a short stay at the hospital, it was finally time to introduce Hayden to his new home. The nurses insisted on wheeling Carly out to the car, and after adding a second car seat to our allready small Dodge Stratus, we started the cozy ride home!

Because of the H1N1 scare, the hospital was pretty strict on not letting anyone under 15 into the recovery area, so Coleton had only seen Hayden through the glass at the nursery. When we brought him in it didnt take long for him to warm right up to him. After a few minutes of being gauked at, Hayden started to cry, and Coleton jumped up ran across the room, grabbed Hayden's blanket, and tucked it nicely around him. When that didn't work, he took more drastic measures, donating his prized Utah Jazz blanket to the cause. Since Coleton always rubs the corner of his blanket on his cheek when he is upset, he sat by Hayden and did the same for him. It was pretty cute, but just one of many things Coleton has done to be a good big brother. Latter that night Hayden was in the play-pen crying and Coleton jumped up, grabbed a few small stuffed animals and began throwing them over the top to his little brother to help calm him down. We're pretty proud of how he's adjusting to his new role as big brother.

While Mom and Dad are still doing the majority of the holding, after a few days of demonstrating that he could be gentle, we decided to Give Coleton a shot at it too. Even though Hayden is a pretty big load for a 22 month old, he did great, and Hayden escaped in one piece.

In our house it's Dad's job to read to the kids. When we realized that we had our second baby on the way we decided that it was time to invest in the friend, but this was the first official reading. From the looks of things on Haydens face, it was a good investment.

Sunday morning brought yet another milestone moment, Haydens first bath. As you can see, it wasnt necessarily as big a hit as reading "the Friend" was, but he made it through anyways. I think if you go back far enough on our blog you can see this same picture with Coleton screaming during his first bath as well. I guess our hopes and dreams of having Olympic swimmers are probably not going to pan out. Oh well.

It's hard to see to far into the future for a 1 week old baby. But from the looks of things right now, I think Hayden might have a promising career in modeling. Whenever he's awake I try to snap a few shots, and he always seems willing to participate in another photo shoot.

Overall, everyone is doing great, and loving the excitement of having a new baby. We're expecially thankfull for Grandma Comstock, and Grandma Cheney who have been so great about helping us out as we get adjusted to being a family of four. It's hard to imagine how life could get much better than this?

Presenting Hayden Jeffrey!

Well it's official, baby Hayden is finally here! After teaching my first hour class this morning I called home to ask Carly how she was doing. She told me she thought we might want to go to the Hospital soon, so I left work, picked her up and we were off! By the time we got to the Hospital in St. George (25 minutes away) she had convinced herself that she wasnt in labor, and since the temple was just across the street, she suggested we take a few laps before going inside.

When we finally went in the nurses took a look at us, and told us that they were completely full, but they were cleaning out a room, and would get us in in a few minutes, and we were asked to have a seat in the waiting room.

After about a 30 minute wait, the nurse invited us back, hooked up a monitor, asked a few questions, and checked Carly. With a bit of a shoked look on her face she said "Oh my, you're dialated to an eight!" Everything started moving really fast, and in less than two hours we had little Hayden Jeffrey in our arms. The Nurse later apologized and explained that "Women who are dialated to eight centimeters don't just walk into labor and deliver and calmly explain that they're in labor."
Unlike his brother, Hayden was born with a full head of hair and dispite being 8 days early weighed in at a healthy 8 lbs 1 ounce, and 20 inches long.
Since Coleton is so young he is not allowed inside the recovery area, but they let him look through the window of the nursery, and he quickly pointed out his new brother turned to me and exclaimed with great enthusiasm, "BABY!" If we can keep that enthusiasm coming, I think it's safe to say that the two of them are going to make quite the tandem for years to come.

Both Hayden, and Carleen are doing great, and seem to be mutually enjoying the opportunity to cuddle up together outside of the womb.
Thanks for all of your prayers!

Baby Update

It seems like our life right now is just waiting for the new baby. Coleton and i spend most of our day cleaning, organizing, setting up baby items and folding baby clothes in hopes of an early arrival. For the past three weeks i have been going to appointments every week and am being checked for any progress at 36 weeks, while they were doing the strep test found that i was dialated to a 3 and the baby was head down and low. When i went in last week at 37 weeks, i was dialated to 3.5 60% effaced and still baby was very low. Yesterday i went in for another appointment, 38 weeks and they stripped my membranes, stating that i was a perfect canidate for it to send me in to labor and after the doctor was done said that he would not be shocked if i was in the hospital that night. Well today i am home, not in labor, and a little disappointed that i am not having any contractions or anything for that matter. The doctor said that he would schedule an induction for February 9th so i am waiting to hear back from the hospital to make the induction secure. I am just getting so excited for this little boy to come and i sure hope it is soon so i dont go nuts.. Here is an updated picture, i am 38 weeks in the photo and feel ready to pop!!
